![]() The pride of the height, the clear firmament, the beauty of heaven, with his glorious shew ![]() Upon the second day thou madest the spirit of the firmament, and commandedst it to part asunder, and to make a division betwixt the waters, that the one part might go up, and the other remain beneath. Or ever the heights of the air were lifted up, before the measures of the firmament were named, or ever the chimneys in Sion were hot,Īnd when the world, that shall begin to vanish away, shall be finished, then will I shew these tokens: the books shall be opened before the firmament, and they shall see all together: Then I looked, and, behold, in the firmament that was above the head of the cherubims there appeared over them as it were a sapphire stone, as the appearance of the likeness of a throne.Īnd they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.Īnd he said unto me, If I should ask thee how great dwellings are in the midst of the sea, or how many springs are in the beginning of the deep, or how many springs are above the firmament, or which are the outgoings of paradise: Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power.Īnd the likeness of the firmament upon the heads of the living creature was as the colour of the terrible crystal, stretched forth over their heads above.Īnd under the firmament were their wings straight, the one toward the other: every one had two, which covered on this side, and every one had two, which covered on that side, their bodies.Īnd there was a voice from the firmament that was over their heads, when they stood, and had let down their wings.Īnd above the firmament that was over their heads was the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone: and upon the likeness of the throne was the likeness as the appearance of a man above upon it. (To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.) The heavens declare the glory of God and the firmament sheweth his handywork. And the evening and the morning were the second day.Īnd God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:Īnd let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.Īnd God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,Īnd God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven. 9 And God said to Jonah, Doest thou well to be angry for the gourd? And he said, I do well to be angry, unto death. And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.Īnd God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.Īnd God called the firmament Heaven. 8 And it came to pass, when the sun did arise, that God prepared a vehement east wind and the sun beat upon the head of Jonah, that he fainted, and wished in himself to die, and said, better for me to die than to live. 7 But God prepared a worm when the morning rose the next day, and it smote the gourd that it withered. So Jonah was exceeding glad of the gourd. 6 And the LORD God prepared a gourd, and made to come up over Jonah, that it might be a shadow over his head, to deliver him from his grief. ![]() 4 Then said the LORD, Doest thou well to be angry? 5 So Jonah went out of the city, and sat on the east side of the city, and there made him a booth, and sat under it in the shadow, till he might see what would become of the city. 3 Therefore now, O LORD, take, I beseech thee, my life from me for better for me to die than to live. 2 And he prayed unto the LORD, and said, I pray thee, O LORD, not this my saying, when I was yet in my country? Therefore I fled before unto Tarshish: for I knew that thou a gracious God, and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repentest thee of the evil. 1 But it displeased Jonah exceedingly, and he was very angry.
